Biography
Dr. Jinwei Zhang is a Medicine Professor and Director of the Research Center of Chemical Kinomics at the State Key Laboratory of Chemical Biology, Shanghai Institute of Organic Chemistry, Chinese Academy of Sciences. He is also a Principal Investigator at the University of Exeter Medical School, UK. His research specializes in ion channels, transporters, and signaling pathways linked to diseases such as stroke and hypertension. Utilizing genetic mouse models, CRISPR/Cas9, and electrophysiology, Dr. Zhang targets ion transporters and kinases to discover new drug targets. He has authored over 100 articles and serves as an editor for multiple scientific journals.
Research Interest
Dr. Jinwei Zhang's research interests focus on the regulation of ion channels, transporters, and signaling pathways in human diseases, particularly stroke and hypertension. He employs advanced techniques like CRISPR/Cas9 gene editing, electrophysiology, and genetic mouse models to explore and target these mechanisms, aiming to discover and validate new drug targets. His work is especially centered on cellular chloride homeostasis and cell volume regulation.
